Club sessions

We consider club sessions to be a vital part of a coherent and friendly club and are a indispensable way whereby new members can integrate into the club. These sessions enable us to keep our small friendly club feel whilst at the same time becoming a major force in Middlesex tennis. Club sessions are open to all club standard players: if new members are uncertain then our coach, Joe Anan, will advise and will get you to the required level quickly via his group or individual coaching.

Club session times are:

Saturday and Sunday:
 2:30pm - 6:00pm (2:00pm to 5:30pm in winter)
Wednesday:  7:00pm - 9:30pm (2 courts only)
Thursday: 10:30am - 12:30pm

You do not have to book: just turn up and play. To encourage club play, new tennis balls are provided at the Saturday session and floodlighting is free during club session as and when necessary.

Returners' session

For members who are returning to tennis, have not reached club standard or are simply not comfortable at club session levels, there is a group session on Sundays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the summer and from 12 noon to 2:00pm in the winter.

Court booking

We operate a court booking system by the low-tech method of a form on the notice board just inside the door of the Clubhouse. It is operated by Joe and is usually available from the Wednesday of the previous week.

We are a very active club and court space in the evening is at a premium although there are usually times for all. If you have any difficulty them speak to Joe: as a small club one of the advantages is that it is easier to resolve individual problems. Day time court space is much easier to find and usually does not require booking.

To ensure that we maintain our excellent team standard of play, one or two courts are reserved for team practices on a number of weekday evenings. One court is reserved on Monday evening for the Ladies I team and  two courts are reserved on Tuesday evening for the Mens I/II and III teams. Two courts are reserved on Thursday evenings for the Mens IV and Ladies II teams, and one court on Friday evenings for Ladies III.

Please note that Sunday morning is reserved for family and junior play from 9.00am until 12 noon.

No play is allowed on Christmas Day or Good Friday as a condition of our lease with the Methodist Church.

Competitive tennis

The club offers an extensive and varied range of internal and external competitive tennis.

American tournaments

We usually organise American tournaments on three or four Sunday afternoons in the year. For each of these, we need 24 members to sign up (along with a  few reserves). The 24 entrants are split into two groups, and each person plays a number of 15-minute rounds in different pairings with the object of winning as many games as possible in each round, keeping their own accumulative score. The top two individuals in each group compete in a final round.
